After much anticipation, the day is finally approaching where people across the globe will go barefoot for 24 hours to raise awareness of the millions of children around the world living without proper footwear. The purpose behind the One Day Without Shoes campaign is to spread the word about the impact a pair of shoes can have one the life of a child. Without proper footwear, children are exposed to injury and disease every single day of their lives.
Tomorrow, April 10th, 2012 marks the official date of this year’s go barefoot day. People from all walks of life – from executives to students to teachers and entrepreneurs – will spend their day sans shoes. More than just a statement, these supporters will open the doors of communication so they can start a conversation and educate others on the seriousness of this cause. Want to get involved? Kick off your shoes and go about your day barefoot, or join one of the many schedule events. Going barefoot not feasible for you? Support the cause electronically by posting a One Day Without Shoes banner or profile picture on Facebook.
Why shoes? It’s simple. When shoes are combined with strategic interventions, they become a powerful tool to help keep kids healthy and in school, which directly contributes to their education and their future. Who knew a pair of shoes could have such an incredible impact? Now you can join the crusade to help the millions of children without shoes throughout the world by simply removing yours for a day.
